We made a trip to Yellowstone National Park from Boston from 7/3 to 7/14. The following is our schedule:
7/03: Fly from Boston, MA to Portland, Oregon. Drive from Portland, Oregon to The Dalles, Oregon.
7/04: Drive to The Dalles, Oregon to Idaho Falls, Idaho.
7/05: Drive to Idaho Falls, Idaho to Grant Campground, Yellowstone National Park. Camp at Grant Campground.
7/06-7/10: Camp at Bridge Bay Campground.
7/11-7/12: Camp at Lewis Lake Campground.
7/13: Drive from Lewis Lake Campground to Kellog, Idaho
7/14: Drive from Kellog, Idaho to Portland, Oregon
The following chart summarizes the expenses for the trip. The flight is 39% of the total expense and car rental is 16%.
The rental car we got was a Chevy Suburban. We originally reserved a smaller SUV but the Suburban is the only SUV left at the company and they gave a good deal.
